Marie Dale earns nomination as Community Unsung Hero in regional awards

Hautapu Sports volunteer Marie Dale is a nominee for the 2023 Waikato Sport & Active Recreations Awards.

The hard-working coordinator of the club’s junior hockey and junior touch modules has been nominated in the Community Unsung Hero category.

The winners will be announced at an awards event expected to be held in February 2024.

“Marie is junior sport in Cambridge; she is so passionate about our kids being active, playing sport and enjoying it,” the nomination says.

“Helping kids learn and improve skills and play sport with smiles on their faces is what drives her to do all she does.

“Marie administers and runs the Cambridge junior hockey module, the Hautapu junior touch module, along with organising the teams for Hautapu sports for these codes.”

Marie Dale recognised at previous awards

She was recognised at the 2022 regional sports awards, also in the Community Unsung Hero category.

In 2022, Hautapu Sports awarded her its Volunteer of the Year accolade and the Wayne Sheeran Memorial Award for services to the club.

For her work with Cambridge mini hockey. Marie Dale was awarded the Reece Hodgson Memorial Cup for Service to Waikato hockey at their 2023 Senior Prizegiving.
