Hautapu Sports will play Hamilton Marist in this year’s Grand Final of the Breweries Shield.
Hautapu’s berth in the big game on Saturday July 15 was clinched with a thrilling 33-20 win against Hamilton Old Boys in the semi-final at Memorial Park.
Hautapu took a 21-10 lead by half-time and then kept the upper hand to book themselves their 11th Grand Final appearance in Waikato Premier Rugby’s elite competition.
Hautapu will face Marist in the final after the Hamilton side beat Te Awamutu 43-19 in the other semi-final.
Meanwhile, Hautapu Colts moved to the top of their competition standings with a top-of-the-table win against Hamilton Marist.
The Colts led 17-0 at the break and finished the game with a 22-7 victory.
Levi Hazelton scored a try early in each half for a double, while Joel Hazelton touched down for Hautapu’s other try.
Jaylon Kitcher added two conversions and a penalty.
Next weekend, Hautapu play third-placed Morrinsville at Memorial Park.
