Hautapu Sports’ Colts are one win from clinching first-seed status in the Waikato Colts competition as the team prepares for finals play-offs.

In the last game of the round-robin competition, Hautapu will host third-placed Morrinsville, knowing a win would ensure first place.

Marist travel to the University of Waikato for their last game in the round-robin.

Against Marist, the Colts led 17-0 at the break and then held their advantage for the rest of the game in wet conditions.

Levi Hazelton scored a try early in each half for a double, while Joel Hazelton touched down for Hautapu’s other try.

Jaylon Kitcher added two conversions and a penalty.

Meanwhile, Hautapu’s Premier A side beat Hamilton Old Boys 33-20 in the semi-final of the Waikato Breweries Shield to book themselves a place in Saturday’s Grand Final against Marist.
