A new rugby season beckons — and with it comes a newly-designed shirt to be worn by Hautapu Sports’ three senior men’s teams.
Apparel partners Dynasty Sport have produced a visually-stunning shirt, with multiple features to recognise and remember those who have gone before.
Throughout the club’s 121-year history, the jersey has changed many times. Nevertheless, the red and white stripes first worn by Hautapu rugby players in 1903 remain in today’s design.
This year, a collar has been added. The right sleeve features seven Breweries Shield logos, a tribute and acknowledgement to previous teams to win the premier Waikato Rugby club competition.
Of the club’s many sponsors, Property Brokers Waikato Commercial Real Estate stands out strongly in the centre of the jersey.
The back of the jersey includes the words to the club’s haka.
The haka is a representation of the land, the name Hautapu, and the symbols on our crest. It also references the battle of Taumatawiwi which acknowledges our local Iwi and ancestors.

On the back of the collar, the club pays tribute to Matt Caldwell. For many years, he was a key member of the club through all grades, playing with a high number of the current senior crop of players.
Matt Caldwell’s name has been on the back of our collar since 2022.
