Hautapu Sports have named their on-field leaders for their defence of rugby’s Breweries Shield with Jonty Short appointed captain of the Premier A team.

Short, a former St Peter’s Cambridge student, is in his third season for Hautapu and has played age grade representative rugby for Waikato, Chiefs and, most recently, the Chiefs development team.

Backing up Short are the 2024 vice captains, Quintony Ngatai and Tahere Reha.

The pair both have plenty of Premier Rugby experience, being members of Hautapu’s 2020 and 2023 Breweries Shield-winning squads.

Ngatai has also represented Waikato in the 2023 Bunnings Warehouse NPC.
