Registrations open for children wanting to play in Term 1 junior touch module

posted in: Juniors, News

Registrations have opened for children wanting to play junior touch in Term 1 of 2024.

Hautapu Sports will enter teams into the Term 1 Junior Touch Module which starts on Friday February 9, 2024.

Children from years 3-8 are eligible to play.

Online registrations are required by Wednesday January 31, 2024.

Fees are $30 per player.

How to register

To play for Hautapu Sports, please register using the link to our Google form below.

You’ll need to complete one form for each child. Once registration is completed, the club will invoice you.

Registered Hautapu Sports players will be sorted into teams, and organisers will do their best to keep teams in school groups and ensure a fair mix of both year groups in the grade and boys/girls.

Player requirements

All players will need sneakers or touch shoes; no BARE FEET.

Players will wear Hautapu Sports Club playing shirts and black shorts.

Volunteers needed

Hautapu Sports require volunteers interested in coaching and managing teams.

Without these important people, teams cannot operate. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in supporting our teams in this way, please indicate this, with your contact details, on the registration form.

Hautapu Sports Club fully supports and provides training for our coaches and managers.

Teams without a coach and/or manager risk not being registered and will be unable to play this season.

About the module

Hautapu Sports Club will continue to run the Junior Touch Module for years 3-8, with three grades — Years 3 & 4, Years 5 & 6 and Years 7 & 8.

The club is affiliated to Waikato Touch and Touch NZ. By playing in an affiliated module, players are eligible to trial for Waikato reps.

Games will be played at Memorial Park, Taylor St, Cambridge, on Friday afternoons/evenings.

The module will run for six weeks — February 9, 16 and 23, March 1, 8 and 15.

After the games on the final evening (March 15), Hautapu Sports Club will provide a sausage and drink for all players, coaches, and managers.

The first weekly round will begin at 4 pm and games start half hourly after that.

Games will comprise 2 x 12-minute halves with a 2-minute halftime.

Year 3/4 games will be played first, then Year 5/6 followed by Year 7/8.

Games will consist of 12-minute halves with a one-minute halftime.

Referees will be provided for all games.
