Two Hautapu Sports junior netball teams had successful trips over the Kaimai Ranges, excelling at the Tauranga Netball Centre’s final tournament of 2023.

Hautapu Year 6 Whero and the club’s Year 7A team played outstanding netball at the tournament held on Sunday August 28, 2023.

Whero won four games to top the Year 6A pool.

Meanwhile, Hautapu’s Year 7A were awarded runners-up in the Year 7A pool.

The Tauranga success was on the back of a busy week of netball for the 7A team.

They been competing in the pre-Aims Tournament in Morrisville, held over five Monday evenings.

This tournament helps prepare teams heading to AIMS (Association of Intermediate and Middle Schools), the week-long annual sporting tournament held in Tauranga.

The pre-AIMs tournament provides the opportunity to build upon their preparation and training.

With teams predominantly being all Year 8 players, it’s been a great achievement for Hautapu’s Year 7A team to make it to the finals and be awarded runners-up.

This team couldn’t have asked for a better opponent in the final — our own 2023 Cambridge Middle School AIMS Team (of which nine players are all Hautapu netball members).

Congratulations to both teams on their achievements and for representing Hautapu Sports so proudly on and off the court with great netball and sportsmanship.
