Photo gallery: Hautapu overcome Te Awamutu in rugby’s Battle of Waipa

Hautapu Sports took the honours in the Battle of Waipa clash with Te Awamutu, winning their Waikato Premier Rugby match 39-20 at Memorial Park.

Hautapu turned around with a 20-13 half-time lead and then extended the winning margin to 19 points by full-time.

The result leaves Hautapu in second place in the Premiership phase of competition.

In the Premier B competition, Hautapu’s Development team lost 31-26 to Te Awamutu Sports.

The home side led 26-12 at the interval but Te Awamutu finished well to overhaul Hautapu for the win.

Meanwhile, Hautapu’s Colts lost for the first time this season, shaded 20-17 by unbeaten Hamilton Old Boys.

Hautapu trailed 10-14 at half-time.
