Premier rugby teams head to Fraser Tech, while Colts are at home to Matamata

Hautapu Sports’ two Premier rugby sides travel to Fraser Tech on Saturday, keen to gain competition points against sides that are so far winless.

With a big win last week, the Prems look to continue winning form when they face Fraser Tech in Hamilton.

Pita Anae – Ah Sue and Simon Parker have returned from Super Rugby duties to boost the forward pack. Meanwhile, young gun Rui Farrent makes his first start at 9.

The Development side, who are also taking on Tech in Hamilton, have named a strong team.

Under the leadership of Sam Whibley, the players are looking to bounce back after last week’s defeat.

In his first game for the red and whites in 2023, club veteran Mitchell Pettit starts at centre, while Oscar Andersen, starting inside him, looks to carry on his form, fresh off a rugby sabbatical in the United Kingdom.

The Colts host Matamata in their first home match of 2023.

It’s always a physical battle when these two sides match up. Levi and Joel Hazelton bring some added experience after playing up in the Seniors last week, while poster boy and Bristol native Archie Hayes will look to steer the team around the pitch as the colts look to go two from two to start the season.

The Hautapu Colts romped to a 57-0 at Waitete in their opener.
