Club members mourn for former rugby coach Peter Nordstrom

Hautapu Sports Club members are mourning the loss of Peter Nordstrom, one of its highest-achieving rugby coaches, who has died.

Club president Dave Simes paid tribute to him, saying: “Peter had a lengthy involvement with Hautapu Sports rugby as a talented coach who had a great understanding of the game coupled with the ability to get the best out of players who were fortunate enough to be playing in that era.

“His coaching contributed to Hautapu Sports teams winning key Premier championship titles, but he also always had time for all players at all levels.

“He will always remain part of Hautapu Sports history.

“Our club’s sincere condolences are passed to the Nordstrom whanau.”

Kia Ora Koutou, the Nordstrom whanau is saddened to announce the passing of Peter Nils Nordstrom.

The Huimate for Dad will be as follows:

16th October (Sunday) — Dad will remain at home (Baxter Place) today. Today will be our Private farewell for Dad. It will be reserved for our immediate family only.

17th October (Monday) — Dad will be going to Nga Hau E Wha Marae in Cambridge at 1030am. Everyone is welcome to attend.

18th October (Tuesday) — There will be a service at the Marae at 7pm. Manuhiri can come throughout the day.

19th October (Wednesday) — A service will be held for Dad at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cambridge (LDS) at 11:00am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
