Growth and improvement of hockey this year has been ‘fantastic’

The junior hockey season is drawing to a close after an outstanding year of growth and improvement of the sport within the Hautapu Sports Club.

The club’s six intermediate hockey teams finished their season on Friday August 26 but the club’s 22 primary teams still have two games left in their season.

Director of Hockey Marie Dale says supporters are welcome for the last two games.

“There is still time for you to come and watch our hockey superstars. Games are played on Fridays, between 4pm and 7.15pm, at St Peter’s Private School hockey turf.”

She said the club had made much progress with its hockey programme this year.

“It has been fantastic to see the growth of hockey within our club.

“The players and teams have improved so much over the season and it’s awesome watching so many players in the mighty red and white having fun playing hockey each and every week.

“We couldn’t field so many teams with the coaches and managers who do a sterling job looking after our players.

“The time, support and commitment shown by these volunteers is very appreciated.”
