The 2025 junior netball season has ended with Hautapu Sports Club’s 49 teams and 394 registered players celebrating their efforts and achievements.
The club’s junior netballers came together for their end-of-season prizegiving and will continue their celebrations with a junior disco to be shared with junior rugby and junior hockey players.
The disco will cater for years 1-4 on Thursday October 9, 2025, while years 5-8 will get together at the clubrooms on Thursday October 16, 2025.
All funds raised from the disco nights — which are a first for our juniors — will go towards the Hautapu Sports netball court refurbishment programme.
Of our 49 teams, 47 took part in the Cambridge Netball Centre competition, while the 7A and 8A teams represented Hautapu Sports in the top sections of their respective grades in the Hamilton City Netball Centre competition.

Thanks to those who make it possible
Hautapu’s junior sport thrives with the help of our community of sponsors, including Property Brokers, Burger Fuel Cambridge, Roofing Craftsmen, Splice Construction Limited, Sentinel Homes, Joe’s Garage, Grassroots Trust and Ampt Electrical.
The club thanks all of them.
Hautapu Sports’ juniors have a fantastic group of coaches, managers, umpires and supporters — thanks to them for making this season successful and enjoyable for our junior members.
Our umpires
Umpiring netball is a demanding and often under-appreciated role. Many girls volunteered their time to umpire this season, and the club thanks them for their commitment and for inspiring the next generation of umpires.

Congratulations to the following umpires who were selected to umpire the finals for Cambridge Netball — Ellie Taylor, Mia van de Wall and Summer Kwok, who umpired Year 7 grade finals playing for 3rd and 4th.
Aaliyah Tiatoa was selected to umpire the Year 7 grade final, and Hautapu Whio and Hautapu Marama, who played for 1st and 2nd.

Te Awamutu tournament
Hautapu Mixers, a one-time Year 7 team, played five games in the Year 7 and 8 Pool A grade at the Te Awamutu Netball Centre junior tournament on March 30. These girls showed grit and determination as they used this tournament as a pre-season opportunity for a competitive experience.

Cambridge pre-AIMS tournament
Six Hautapu junior netball teams endured a full day of heavy rain, as they competed in the Cambridge Netball pre-AIMS tournament on August 17. All teams pushed through the tournament with positive attitudes, representing the club well.
Congratulations!
Congratulations go to all the club’s junior teams for their achievements and for continuing to represent Hautapu Sports with pride, and for demonstrating outstanding netball and sportsmanship.
Next up, the junior disco … and then our players and supporters can start to look forward to doing it all again in 2026.
