Hautapu Sports’ Quintony Ngatai will play his 50th game for the club when he runs out in the Waikato Breweries Shield grand final against Hamilton Marist.
Ngatai will qualify for his club blazer, a recognition of his service to the club he joined in 2021.
After developing his halfback game at Gisborne Boys High School, Ngatai (known widely as Quincy) moved to the Waikato.
In confirming he’ll reach his milestone, the club said: “Quincy made an Immediate impact, making the premier team and making the number 9 jersey his own.
“He’s been a valuable and highly respected member of the team this year, taking on the role of vice captain, helping out everywhere, even taking on the kicking duties when needed.
“After helping last year’s side win the Breweries Shield, Quincy’s 2023 was capped off when made his Waikato debut in last year’s NPC.”
Ngatai’s oldest daughter, wearing her own custom jersey, is always on the sidelines, cheering on her dad, and the family have recently welcomed their newest addition.
