Hautapu Sports players picked for Waikato’s season opener against Steamers

Six Hautapu Sports players have been named in the Waikato squad for their NPC season opener against Bay of Plenty Steamers.

Ollie Norris and Laghlan McWhannell have been included in the run-on side, while Pita Anae-Ah Sue, Ayden Johnstone, Andrew Smith and Quintony Ngatai will be impact players.

Johnstone will co-captain the Waikato side in the Bunnings National Provincial Championship match.

Smith is expected to make his debut for Waikato.

The Mooloo Men will challenge for two trophies in this match. The Nathan Strongman Memorial Trophy and the Chiefs Country Cup are on the line, as Bay of Plenty are the current holders of both trophies.
