Referees are in short supply and desperately needed for local games, says the Cambridge Rugby Referees Association.
The association is looking to recruit new referees or invite past referees to return to the sport.
“Refereeing rugby is a great way to contribute to your community and give back to the game,” the association says.
“You’ll meet new people and get the best seat in the house during exciting games.
“You will also look smart in the Waikato rugby referees’ new white refereeing shirt!”
The association says refereeing suits a wide range of participants, including:
- Are you a parent who would like to referee your child’s game?
- Are you a high school student who would like to learn more about refereeing by being an assistant referee for senior games on a Saturday afternoon?
- Are you a senior player who could help out by refereeing or assistant refereeing a junior/high school game on a Saturday morning?
The Cambridge Rugby Referees Association (Inc) meets most Monday nights at Memorial Park, Cambridge.
They welcome anyone wishing to learn more about refereeing and help to ensure that rugby games in Cambridge get the officials they require.
