Hautapu Sports’ senior netball sides continue to perform well in their Saturday and Monday competitions.
The Premier Red team remain unbeaten and are co-leaders of Cambridge Netball’s women’s Premier competition, after a comprehensive 61-18 win against St Peter’s Premier Red team.
Hautapu started well, racing to an 18-5 lead in the opening quarter, and going into the half-time break with a 32-11 lead.
A strong finish ensured a healthy winning margin, and the Premier Red can look forward with confidence to next week’s match against third-placed Otorohanga.
Otorohanga beat Hautapu’s Premier White side 78-27, thanks to a storming finish.
Premier White did well to trail by only two points, after an opening quarter which gave Otorohanga a 14-12 advantage.
In the Saturday competitions, Hautapu Hustlers and Hautapu Goal Digger both had good wins.
The Hustlers had to come from behind to overhaul Cambridge High School’s Tawa, to finish the match with a 31-25 lead.
In the A2 Grade (section A), Hautapu Goal Digger were always in charge, steadily building to a 37-4 final score.
Hautapu Hawks led competition leaders TVP Amorangi 24-21 at half-time in their Premier Reserves contest but their opponents finished 48-44 ahead.
