Hautapu Sports have taken an early lead in the Monday night Premier Ladies League, while three of the club’s Saturday teams have played their opening games of the new netball season.
The Hautapu Hawks won their Saturday opener, beating Tom Voyle Park Stars 48-29.
Hautapu Hustlers and Hautapu Hots Shots lost their first games, while Hautapu Goal Digger start their season next Saturday (May 11).
In Monday’s games at St Peter’s, the Hautapu Premier White side lost a close encounter with over-the-bridge rivals Leamington.
The teams were tied 19-19 at the half-time point but Leamington hung on for a 41-39 win.
Hautapua Premier Red beat United Matamata Sports 43-33.
After trailing 11-7 early in the game, Hautapu had a strong second quarter to lead 23-18 at the halfway mark.
A strong finish saw the Red side keep their unbeaten start to the season and go to the top of the competition table.
