Premier rugby squad starts pre-season preparation, arranges two games

Hautapu Sports have lined up two pre-season matches to help prepare for the Waikato Premier Rugby season.

The Premier team will host Karaka on Saturday March 9, 2024, and will travel to play Mt Maunganui at Tauranga’s Blake Park a week later, on Saturday March 16, 2024.

With the season due to start on Saturday April 6, with an away fixture at Hamilton Old Boys, the senior men’s rugby preparation begins in January.

Optional training sessions will be held at the club on Thursdays January 18 and 25, and on February 1.

Formal pre-season training starts on Thursday February 8, and will be held every Tuesday/Thursday from then.

Coaching staff for 2024

Having appointed Jackson Willison as head coach for next season, the club has confirmed roles for Waikato Chiefs forward Hamilton Burr and club newcomers Fraser Armstrong and Elliott Sharp.
