Club aims to boost rugby sevens reputation with summer programme

posted in: News, Rugby

Hautapu Sports plan to build a winning reputation for sevens rugby this summer with a new coach, new training programme and participation in regional tournaments.

The club plans to field two teams, a Premier side and a Development squad, who will contest a minimum of three regional tournaments by early November and the Mt Maunganui tournament mid-January 2024.

The club is excited to announce it has appointed a new, vastly experienced coach to lead this programme and will hold twice-weekly training sessions (Mondays and Wednesdays).

Important meeting

The club is hosting a meet and greet for all players wanting to be part of this year’s sevens campaign on Monday September 25, 2023 (6pm-7pm).

The meeting will be an important step in preparing for the sevens season, and players are encouraged to attend this opening night to understand more and throw the ball around.
