Hautapu’s Luke Jacobson included in touring All Blacks XV squad

posted in: News, Rugby

Hautapu Sports’ loose forward Luke Jacobson will head to Ireland and England in November as part of a 28-player All Blacks XV squad.

He’s one of eight test players chosen for the squad by Blues head coach Leon McDonald.

The touring team will play two games — an Ireland A side, and the Barbarians.

Also included in the squad is Waikato Chiefs centre Alex Nankivell, who played a number of games for Hautapu Sports from 2017-19.

Here’s how All Blacks head coach Ian Foster introduced the touring squad on Sky Sport:

Jacobson (25) was recalled to the All Blacks for the Bledisloe Cup series with Australia this year, after disruption to his international career caused by injuries.

The former New Zealand U-20 captain has been a key player with Waikato and the Chiefs.

Nanikvell (25) gets his first chance to play in an All Black shirt with the tour. He’s been a Chiefs regular since 2017 and has made five appearances for the Maori All Blacks since 2019.
