Jason Thomasen — known to all as ‘JT’ — will make his 100th appearance for Hautapu Sports Club when he turns out for the club’s Premier A side against Morrinsville this weekend.
The popular centre has been part of the Hautapu Prems set-up since joining the club in 2014 from St Peter’s, Cambridge.
Apart from one year away from the club in 2019, Thomasen has been a mainstay in the midfield and has represented the Waikato U-19s and played for the Waikato Chiefs’ development squad.
Prems manager Mike Johnston says:
“He’s a great team man and a natural leader who has been with the club through some tough years and also won championships.
“As one of the elder statesmen of the team, he provides a great role model for both younger and new players as to the culture of the club and how proud he is to wear the colours.”
Off the rugby pitch, Thomasen is building a career within the horse industry and is on his way to becoming a fully-qualified farrier.
