Hautapu Sports Club has lost one of its most loyal supporters with the death of Kelvin Smith (75).

The father of veteran senior rugby player Billy Smith, Kelvin was an enthusiastic supporter of Hautapu’s Premier A and B rugby teams at home and away games.

His favoured viewpoint was from a fold-out chair at the end of the field.

Hautapu Sports president Dave Simes said Kelvin Smith’s presence would be missed within the club and he passed the club’s condolences to the Smith family and friends.

“Keep looking down on us, Kelvin, and enjoy your footy, mate,” Simes said.
