Hautapu Sports trio named in All Blacks squad to tour South Africa

Three Hautapu Sports players will be in the All Blacks squad for the inaugural Rugby's Greatest Rivalry Tour, after the recall of prop Ollie Norris.

Norris (26) will join Luke Jacobson and former Hautapu loose forward Simon Parker in the 44-player squad selected for the eight-match tour of South Africa from August 8 till September 13, when the All Blacks and the Springboks meet in the fourth and final test of their series.

New Zealand Rugby chief executive Steve Lancaster says the tour will be a landmark for both rugby-mad nations, and a generation of fans.

“This is the next chapter in one of our sport’s defining rivalries. It is our first full-scale, old-style tour in 30 years — since ‘The Incomparables’ led by Sean Fitzpatrick pulled off the All Blacks’ first series win in South Africa in 1996."

More than 3,000 New Zealand fans are expected to travel to South Africa to support the All Blacks.

Head coach Dave Rennie and selectors Sir Graham Henry and Neil Barnes retained Luke Jacobson and Simon Parker from the Nations Championship Southern Series squad, and named Ollie Norris as one of 10 players to bolster the group for the seven-week South Africa tour.

About the players

Luke Jacobson has made 29 appearances for New Zealand since his test debut in 2019.

Jacobson debuted for the Gallagher Chiefs in 2018, following a formidable year in the jersey in 2019 saw the loose forward debut for the All Blacks in Argentina in 2019. Later that season, he was selected in the 2019 All Blacks Rugby World Cup squad but was withdrawn due to a concussion.

Jacobson wore the captain’s armband for the first time in 2021 against the Melbourne Rebels and has done so multiple times since.

After an outstanding Super Rugby season, Jacobson was again named in the All Blacks Rugby World Cup Squad in 2023 to play in France.

Simon Parker, now playing for Northland Rugby, spent a number of seasons with Hautapu Sports, helping win Waikato club championships in 2020 and 2023.

He represented NZ Secondary Schools before winning selection to the New Zealand U-20 team in 2019, and joining the Chiefs in 2020.

Ollie Norris made his debut for the All Blacks in 2025, and has played for the Maori All Blacks since 2021.

After playing loosehead prop for Hautapu Sports, Norris made his name with the Chiefs, after making his Super Rugby debut against the Crusaders in 2020.

Norris was a member of the wider New Zealand U-20 team in 2018 and was called up to travel to France for the closing match of the World Rugby U-20 Championship.

Born in Sydney, Norris went to St Peter’s, Cambridge, and was a member of their first XV that won the National Co-Ed title. He also previously represented New Zealand in the 2017 Barbarians Schools team.
