Hautapu Sports Club have won Waikato senior hockey’s Mead Cup in a day of finals involving three of the club’s teams.
The Woodcom Hautapu Men’s team took out the Mead Cup by winning their Reserve 3 grade final 4-2 against Suburbs Saints.
The victory also means the team is promoted to the Reserve 2 competition for the season’s championship round.
In the Women’s Reserve 2 final, the Waipa Civil Hautapu Women’s team lost 6-5 to FTHC Reserve Gray in a thriller of a game, in which Player of the Day Ahu Arlidge scored a hat-trick.
In the third final involving a Hautapu side, Te Miro Water Hautapu Men’s lost 3-0 to Old Boys.
Evans & Co. Hautapu Women’s lost a non-competition game 5-2 to Varsity Chicks.
