Special milestone for David Morris as Hautapu prepare for ANZAC Day games

posted in: News, Rugby

Squads have been confirmed for Hautapu Sports Club’s senior teams ahead of the ANZAC Day fixtures in the Waikato Rugby competitions.

David Morris will play his 150th Premier game for Hautapu Sports when he turns out against Melville in the Premier A match at Memorial Park.

In a tribute to his contribution to the squad, the club said: “David has been through it all with the club.

“A highly respected figure among the players, coaches, and supporters alike, he has given everything for our club and our jersey.

“In his early years, the club was fighting relegation from the Premier grade. Surviving that tough period, David became a key part of the club’s resurgence, helping drive our premier team to become a top side year in and year out.

“His leadership over the years has been instrumental for everyone that has worn the jersey alongside him.

“David was part of three championship-winning teams, including the undefeated 2019 side.

“On behalf of the entire club, we want to thank Dave for everything he has done for Hautapu. We hope as many of you as possible can join us tomorrow afternoon to celebrate this massive milestone at the club.”
